Teeth whitening is a simple, safe, cost effective procedure, which can transform our smiles and improve confidence in a short space of time. As we get older our teeth can become darker, especially if we enjoy more darkly coloured foods and drinks (tea, coffee, wine, curry – all the fun things!).
Only registered dental professionals should only carry out Teeth Whitening, in their hands it is safe, reliable and predictable. At Stokesley Dental Practice, we use Whitewash Laboratories Professional Teeth Whitening Products to brighten and improve smiles, which can lead to increased confidenceRead More
Root canal therapy (or endodontics) is usually required when a tooth displays signs of dying, or has died leading to potential infection/abscess. This is usually associated teeth, which have been heavily filled and/or decayed, or occasionally following injury/trauma to the tooth. Often these teeth can become painful but occasionally are symptom-free, however if left untreated would likely lead to future pain/abscess with increased risks of tooth loss.
Root canal therapy involves assessing the root/nerve formation of the tooth, before using appropriate systems to clean, disinfect and seal the root canals. Following root canal therapy, it is necessary to restore the tooth to the correct form and function. Teeth that have undergone root canal therapy are often more brittle/prone to fracture, and as such, are usually restored with a crown to provide strength and additional support.
Missing teeth are often replaced with dentures or “false-teeth” which are removable, and can be worn as and when required. Dentures can be made from a variety of materials, and at Stokesley Dental Practice, we endeavor to assess you on an individual basis and provide you with the information to make the best possible choice.Read More
If front teeth are heavily restored, misshapen or discoloured, often a veneer may be advised. A veneer is a thin layer of material, which is custom-made in the dental laboratory, following minimal preparation, which is attached to the front of the tooth to improve its appearance. Veneers can be made from various materials, from tooth coloured composite, to more aesthetic white options such as porcelain/emax. Veneers, if well maintained & cleaned can last for many years. At Stokesley Dental Practice, we endeavour to assess your teeth on an individual basis and provide you with the information to make the best possible choice.
If a tooth is heavily restored or broken down, particularly following root canal treatment, a crown may be advised. Crowns are custom-made in the dental laboratory, and are used to cover the tooth, following preparation, to provide strength and protect from fracture. Crowns can be made from various materials, from metal, to gold, to aesthetic, white options, which include porcelain/emax/zirconia.
Permanent crowns, if well maintained and cleaned can last for many years, providing aesthetics and strength. At Stokesley Dental Practice, we endeavour to assess your teeth on an individual basis and provide you with the information to make the best possible choice.
At Stokesley Dental Practice, we are committed to restoring your teeth with the best possible material. We will endeavor to assess your teeth on an individual basis and provide you with the information to make the best possible choice. Modern advancements in dental materials allow for teeth to be filled with durable, aesthetic white (composite) fillings, which are bonded to the tooth, adding strength.
These composite fillings contain no metal or mercury and allow for more minimal tooth removal compared to silver/amalgam fillings. White filling material can be used to replace older silver/amalgam fillings, and can also be used to make small improvements in appearance of our teeth by repairing chips/wear, improving contours, and changing shape/size. This composite bonding can often be done without any drilling of natural teeth and therefore can often avoid the need for any injections.
Dark and stubborn staining can build up on our teeth over time, which can lead to us having less confidence in our smile. At Stokesley Dental Practice, we use Airflow air polishing to remove this staining. Airflow is a gentle procedure, which uses water and powder and can be used very effectively to remove staining without damaging our gums or teeth.
